This is the
earliest portrait of my grandparents with most of their immediate
family and children.
From
the left: Erminia (My grandfather's sister), Delfino Gaido (her
husband), Antonio & Virginio Corte (my grandmother's
half-brothers, they all had the same father), and Amelia (my
grandmother) standing behind Elizabeth (my Aunt Betty). Marcella
is missing from the photo, and my father looks about 4 years old,
so it must have been taken shortly after her death.
Seated: Felice (my
grandfather), holding Henry (my father). To their right: Teresa
[Tessie...] Delfino and Erminia's daughter.
Missing from the
photo is my grandmother's half-sister, Celeste Corte, whose work
as a beautician always had her going off somewhere distant. She's
in the next portrait.
