This was a small cement bordered garden located on a patio on the first (ground) floor level in the front of the house on Adams Street. My grandmother had every available space growing things.  There were cement urns on the wall at the top of the first flight of stairs with plants that remind me of artichokes in them.
Behind her was an entrance to one of the two workshops my great-uncle Tony had. The other was in the boiler room in the center of the ground floor. He and my father allowed me to construct things ("play" is a better word) in these rooms as a child.
